BI-LO Names Two To Executive Committee

Bill Nasshan and Anthea Jones Assume New Roles
MAULDIN, S.C. (July 16, 2009) — BI-LO, LLC today announced it named Bill Nasshan as Senior Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing. In addition, the company is pleased to announce the promotion of Anthea Jones to Senior Vice President of Store Operations. These changes are effective immediately.
Nasshan replaces Larry Stablein who has acted as Interim Senior Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing since November, 2008. Nasshan will work with Stablein, who will continue to partner with BI-LO in a consulting capacity for the near future.
Nasshan most recently served as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Merchandising with New England’s Shaw’s Supermarkets. Prior to his tenure at Shaw’s, he served as Senior Vice President of Merchandising for Ann Arbor-based Borders Books Music and Video. Nasshan also was a Category Management Consultant for The Partnering Group.
Beginning his career in the grocery industry as a clerk at Chicago’s Dominick’s, Nasshan spent 20 years there serving in various capacities, including: Group Vice President of Sales and Marketing; Vice President of Grocery Buying, Merchandising and Logistics; and Vice President of Operations.
Jones brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this new role at BI-LO. Leveraging his strong knowledge of BI-LO and the marketplace, Jones understands the crucial role BI-LO Teammates play in delivering outstanding service to each and every BI-LO customer and works with teams throughout the organization to uphold and exceed the company’s standards.
Prior to this new role at BI-LO, Jones was Group Vice President, Center Store. With more than 25 years experience in the grocery industry, he served as Vice President, Non-Foods and Pharmacy; Regional Vice President; and Director of Customer Service for BI-LO. Jones began his grocery retail career at Food Lion as a Courtesy Clerk, working his way to Store Manager, Merchandising Manager, District Manager and eventually assuming the role of Director of Store Operations. He is a graduate of North Carolina State University and has a B.S. in Economics and Statistics with an MBA. Jones will be responsible for operations and BI-LO Charities, Inc.
